What is a barcode? And how does it work?
A barcode, also referred to as a UPC (Universal Product Code) or EAN (European Article Number), is a unique identifier that allows both online and offline retailers to track and manage sales of your product in their inventory system. Barcodes typically come in either 12 or 13 digits.

Do I need a barcode?
The use of barcodes is not mandatory. Retailers use barcodes as the basis for their pricing, inventory, and ordering systems. However, if you plan to sell your products through a retailer that uses the barcode system, such as Amazon, then you will need a barcode.

How many UPC codes do I need?
To properly identify your products in a retailer's inventory management system, each unique product requires a different UPC barcode. Variations of a product, such as different sizes and colors, also need unique barcodes.

What is the difference between UPC and EAN?
UPC barcodes are 12-digit identifiers used in North America, while EAN barcodes are 13-digit identifiers used globally outside of North America. Both UPC and EAN codes are part of GS1's international standards and are accepted globally.

Will the barcodes work in all retail stores?
Yes, with the exception of a few retailers such as Walmart and Macy's, which may require that you purchase barcodes directly from GS1. However, there are many reports of businesses being successful in selling their products in these stores with barcodes purchased elsewhere.

Yes, our barcodes can be used on all Amazon sites and other online and physical retail stores.

What types of barcodes do Amazon accept?
Amazon accepts both UPC and EAN codes.

How will I receive my barcode numbers?
Barcodes purchased through our website will be emailed to you as either UPC-A (12 digits) or EAN-13 (13 digits) codes. Barcode graphics are available at an additional cost.

Are the barcodes issued by an official body?
Yes, all of our barcodes were issued by GS1-US, formerly known as the Uniform Code Council before 2005. We have purchased a large quantity of unassigned barcodes from GS1 and are reselling them to individuals and companies that need barcodes.

Will the barcodes expire? Do I have to pay any kind of renewal fees or annual membership fees?
No, barcodes never expire and all prices include a one-time payment only, with no renewal fees or hidden costs.

Do I need to print the barcodes?
If you sell products online, you only need the numbers. However, if you sell through a distributor, you may need to print the barcodes on stickers using the images we provide with your order.

What information do I need to provide?
No, we do not require any information about your product, price, or company. You can use the barcodes to directly register your products with your online marketplace or distributor.
